Uno de los actos de masacre más horrendos de la historia reciente tuvo lugar en Irán. Durante dos noches, las calles se llenaron de gente que exigía libertad y un futuro. La República Islámica respondió con munición real. Miles de mujeres y hombres, jóvenes y mayores, fueron asesinados a tiros en diversas ciudades. Al mismo tiempo, se silenció internet para silenciar las voces, para que la sangre pasara desapercibida.
Según informes y estimaciones independientes, el número de muertos superó los 12.000.
Esto no fue la represión de la protesta, sino el silenciamiento de la verdad.
Esta convocatoria abierta invita a artistas de todas las disciplinas a responder a esta tragedia y a llevar las voces silenciadas de las víctimas a la conciencia mundial.

Esta exposición no surgió como un gesto estético ni un producto cultural seguro. Nació de la ira, la impotencia y la urgente necesidad de nombrar la violencia que se oculta sistemáticamente tras palabras como orden, tradición o estabilidad. Iniciada por el caricaturista iraní Saman Torabi y el curador y gestor de exposiciones eslovaco Brainsneezing Peter Rázus de Prešov, forma un archivo visual de resistencia contra la opresión y el olvido organizado.
El Irán contemporáneo es un lugar donde la libertad se castiga y la verdad se trata como una amenaza. Los dibujos presentados aquí hablan de la supresión de derechos humanos, la violencia estatal, la agresión del poder y las muertes de personas inocentes. No es una metáfora: es una realidad que se repite a diario, con consecuencias que se desvanecen en el ruido mediático.
Aquí, el arte de la caricatura se quita su máscara protectora. No es evasión ni ironía, sino una herramienta de denuncia. Expone los mecanismos de propaganda, la manipulación de la opinión pública y el cinismo del poder. Al mismo tiempo, confronta al espectador con una incómoda pregunta: ¿cuánta violencia somos aún capaces de ver sin reaccionar? ¿Cuándo el sufrimiento ajeno se convierte en solo otra imagen que deslizamos?
Esta exposición es tanto una acusación como un desafío. Una acusación a un sistema que legitima la crueldad, y un desafío a rechazar la indiferencia. El silencio no es neutral. La pasividad no es inocente. Cada mirada que se aparta ayuda a mantener la violencia en movimiento.
Presentada desde marzo de 2026 en Prešov y otras ciudades eslovacas, la exposición está abierta a lugares que no teman el conflicto, la discrepancia y la responsabilidad. Porque el arte que no duele hoy a menudo solo confirma el estado de las cosas.

One of the most horrific acts of mass killing in recent history unfolded in Iran.
For two nights, the streets were filled with people demanding freedom and a future.
The Islamic Republic answered with live ammunition.
Thousands of women and men — young and old — were gunned down across cities.
At the same time, the internet was shut down,
so voices would be silenced,
so blood would go unseen.
According to independent reports and estimates, the death toll exceeded 12,000.
This was not the suppression of protest —it was the silencing of truth.
This open call invites artists from all disciplines to respond to this tragedy and to carry the muted voices of the victims to the conscience of the world.

This exhibition did not arise as an aesthetic gesture or a safe cultural product. It was born out of anger, helplessness, and the urgent need to name violence that is systematically concealed behind words such as order, tradition, or stability. Initiated by Iranian cartoonist Saman Torabi and Slovak curator and exhibition manager Brainsneezing Peter Rázus from Prešov, it forms a visual archive of resistance against oppression and organized forgetting.
Contemporary Iran is a place where freedom is punished and truth is treated as a threat. The drawings presented here speak of the suppression of human rights, state violence, the aggression of power, and the deaths of innocent people. This is not a metaphor—it is a reality that repeats itself daily, its consequences fading into media noise.
Here, cartoon art sheds its protective mask. It is neither an escape nor irony, but a tool of indictment. It exposes mechanisms of propaganda, manipulation of public opinion, and the cynicism of power. At the same time, it confronts the viewer with an uncomfortable question: how much violence are we still able to watch without reacting? When does the suffering of others become just another image we scroll past?
This exhibition is both an accusation and a challenge. An accusation of a system that legitimizes cruelty, and a challenge to reject indifference. Silence is not neutral. Passivity is not innocent. Every gaze that turns away helps to keep violence in motion.
Presented from March 2026 in Prešov and other Slovak cities, the exhibition is open to places that are not afraid of conflict, disagreement, and responsibility. Because art that does not hurt today often merely confirms the state of things.
