Humor Sapiens no exige afinidad ideológica.

Humor Sapiens Turns 13
It is a cultural and independent website, founded in 2013, dedicated to the study, reflection and dissemination of humor as a human, artistic and social phenomenon. The project addresses humor from an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating theoretical, pedagogical, creative and communicational approaches, and is aimed at researchers, teachers, artists and the general public interested in humor as a tool for knowledge and quality of life, beyond immediate entertainment.
The Humor Sapiens Universe
Humor Sapiens is not merely a website, but a cultural project conceived as a system. It approaches humor not simply as a means of provoking laughter, but as a vital attitude, a complex human capacity, and a tool with aesthetic, social, educational, therapeutic, and communicative applications.
The site is structured around several interconnected areas that explore humor from complementary perspectives: graphic humor, literary humor, children’s humor, humor theory, academic research, the historical memory of humor, cultural dissemination, and the promotion of conscious and restorative humor practices.
To designate these areas, Humor Sapiens employs certain neologisms—such as Humorology, Humorophilia, or Humoroteca—not as linguistic playfulness, but as functional categories intended to organize, systematize, and deepen the study, creation, preservation, and experience of humor.
The project maintains an independent and universal vocation. It welcomes diverse viewpoints, cultural traditions, and theoretical approaches, always grounded in respect, intellectual rigor, and critical thinking.
Humor Sapiens seeks to be both a reference resource for specialists, a meeting space for creators and scholars, and an accessible platform for anyone interested in understanding the role of humor in human life and contemporary society.
The contents of Humor Sapiens have been cited in articles published in scientific journals, university theses, and academic research papers. As of December 2025, the site records over forty citations in Google Scholar, originating from documents produced in universities across America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Statement of Principles
Humor Sapiens is an independent space dedicated to artistic humorous creation, the study and research of humor, its teaching, promotion, and practice as part of human life.
Our work is guided by artistic, professional, and academic criteria, depending on the nature of each activity. We interview, promote, study, and recognize humorists for their work, their contribution, and their relationship with humor, not for their political, religious, or ideological affiliations, nor for their agreement or disagreement with our own opinions.
We defend diversity of ideas and the right to think differently. For this reason, we do not consider that a political, religious, or ideological disagreement, no matter how deep, constitutes in itself a reason to make a creator invisible, exclude them from an initiative, or ignore their contribution to humor. It would be contradictory to defend freedom of expression while simultaneously practicing exclusion based on belief.
This openness does not mean renouncing ethical principles or ignoring individual responsibilities. When there is sufficient evidence of real harm caused to other people, those facts may be considered according to their severity, relevance, and the specific criteria of each initiative. Accusations, on their own, do not amount to proven facts.
These principles guide all of our work: the Humor Sapiens International Award, the website, the Monthly Newsletter, interviews, publications, and all other activities related to the creation, reflection, research, and dissemination of humor.
Humor Sapiens does not require ideological affinity. It requires respect for diversity, rigor in its criteria, and a commitment to humor as creation, knowledge, and human experience.
